Ramzi Makram-Ebeid
The Local Show is created, produced, and hosted by Egyptian-American designer Ramzi Makram-Ebeid. In 2007, Ramzi founded Human Nature, a boutique interior, furniture, and product design firm based in Cairo. Known for its emphasis on functionality and minimalism, the high-end firm blends simplicity with intention in every project. In 2023, Ramzi expanded his creative portfolio and began the process of creating The Local Show, an educational and immersive series dedicated to celebrating consciences design and architecture. With no prior experience in filmmaking, Ramzi was driven by a desire to share his love of architecture and design with wider audiences. He began by conducting extensive research and independently selected spaces across Egypt that he felt reflected the country’s architectural heritage and embodied principles of sustainability, functionality, and community-driven design. What began as a solo-project—with Ramzi conducting early interviews alongside a single videographer—soon evolved into a larger collaboration with the show’s director, Sherif Nakhla. In 2025 the Local Show launched, and together, they have crafted a visually rich and intellectually engaging series that highlights the meaningful relationship between people, places, and purpose.
